The US Federal Communications Commission grants SpaceX an international license for its Starlink Mobile services

The U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has granted SpaceX an international license under Section 214, allowing it to provide cross-border communications services via Starlink Mobile.

This step paves the way for expanding global roaming and direct connectivity services between satellites and traditional smartphones.

The license allows the company to route communications and data traffic between the United States and other countries, and also opens the door for it to offer its services through its branches in markets in Latin America, Europe, Asia and Africa, according to specialized reports.

SpaceX aims to expand direct satellite-to-mobile connectivity with this service, including voice and data services, in areas lacking terrestrial networks. The company is targeting connection speeds of up to 150 megabits per second in later phases, according to media reports.

However, approval from the US agency does not mean automatic commercial launch in all countries, as the company will still need to obtain licenses and approvals from local regulatory authorities in each market before operating the service.
