The World Boxing Council announced that the flyweight world champion fight between Ricardo Sandoval and Oscar Collazo on October 10 has been postponed due to Collazo's injury.
"The fight will not go ahead as planned after Collazo suffered an injury during training," the WBC said in a statement on its official website, which was monitored.
Sandoval was scheduled to defend his WBC flyweight world title for the first time since winning it. The Mexican boxer has a professional record of 27 wins and two losses, with 18 of those wins coming by knockout .
The boxer nicknamed "El Nino" won the WBC title after defeating Kenshiro Teraji via split decision in a 12-round fight in Japan last year.
Meanwhile, Collazo is scheduled to move up from the minimumweight division to flyweight to challenge Sandoval. The Puerto Rican boxer remains undefeated with a 15-fight record. Prior to the planned move up, Collazo was the minimumweight world champion and had made seven title defenses.
