United States President Donald Trump said he faces a major decision regarding the future of the conflict with Iran amid a deadlock in peace talks between the two countries.

Trump said the US-Iran war could end after the congressional midterm elections on November 3. However, on Sunday, he said peace could be achieved before those elections.
"I'm facing a big decision. Do I want to go in and wipe them out (Iran), or not? It's a big decision," Trump told Axios.
"Anything can happen to me," he added.
According to the report, Trump has previously made similar statements, his latest threat coming ahead of a meeting with the leaders of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait and Oman on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.
Trump will likely consider the views of the Gulf states in determining Washington's next steps, especially if he chooses to resume large-scale military operations.
The US and Israel launched attacks on several targets in Iran on February 28. Iran then retaliated with attacks on US and Israeli targets.
After months of mutual attacks, Tehran and Washington signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on the cessation of hostilities in mid-June. However, attacks resumed shortly after the agreement.
The conflict has not been resolved to this day and hostilities still occasionally recur.
Washington is also increasing economic pressure on the Islamic Republic of Iran as part of its efforts to end the conflict by increasing financial pressure on Tehran.
