US President Donald Trump claimed that about 30 oil tankers pass through the Strait of Hormuz daily , describing the shipping situation there as “very good”.

Speaking to reporters at the White House on Monday evening, he said: “About 30 tankers pass through the Strait of Hormuz daily with the help of the U.S. Navy. The Strait of Hormuz is in very good condition.”
He added “There are very large quantities of oil flowing, and that is why you see that oil prices have not risen as expected.”
Trump claimed that the United States “did a very good job” first in Venezuela and then in Iran.
He added: “Iran will never have a nuclear weapon. If Iran had a nuclear weapon, Israel would not exist now.”
He stressed that there was no possibility of chemical weapons being used against Iran, claiming that his country had already destroyed a large part of Tehran’s military capabilities.
Trump avoided making definitive statements about whether the resumption of attacks on Iran was part of a limited plan or would turn into a full-blown war.
He claimed that Iran is a “failed state,” and added threateningly: “But that doesn’t mean we won’t teach them a lesson. We’ll see what happens.”
The Strait of Hormuz is witnessing escalating tensions against the backdrop of the war between the United States and Iran , amid disruption to navigation and global energy supplies.
The United States and Israel began a war against Iran on February 28, with the latter responding with attacks on American and Israeli targets in the region, before a ceasefire agreement was reached.
On June 18, Washington and Tehran signed a memorandum of understanding on freedom of navigation, but it stalled due to disagreements over the security of the Strait of Hormuz.
Between July 8 and 24, the United States resumed its attacks on Iran, and Tehran responded by targeting “American military facilities and equipment” in Arab countries.
