YouTube Studio expands AI tools to help content creators

YouTube is moving towards expanding the presence of artificial intelligence within its content creation tools, after announcing a new set of features that make YouTube Studio more reliant on artificial intelligence in stages starting from developing the video idea, passing through review, editing, and thumbnail design, all the way to content performance testing and channel management.

YouTube announced these tools during the Made on YouTube event, explaining that their purpose is to help content creators at various stages of their work, while leaving the final decision on what is published in the hands of the creator.

According to YouTube, the assistant can provide guidance on the title, structure, text, and pacing. New tools in the studio can analyze channel performance and help creators discover videos that have achieved remarkable results, potentially providing ideas for new content.

The system also includes the Insights and Research feature, which aims to help creators understand the performance of past content and discover topics or videos that can inspire new work.

Thumbnails that match the channel's style
YouTube also pays attention to the video presentation stage for viewers, through AI-based tools to create thumbnails that match the channel's style.

The platform also offers a Dynamic Thumbnails feature, which can display up to 3 different thumbnails to different segments of the audience, with the aim of identifying the most appropriate image for each group of viewers.
This move is an extension of the testing tools that YouTube provides for titles and thumbnails. The company says that content creators have conducted more than 40 million experiments since the official launch of the title and thumbnail testing in 2024.

Testing different versions of the video
The new tests are not limited to the title and thumbnail, as YouTube announced Video A/B Testing, which allows creators to test up to 3 different versions of a video to see which one best holds the audience’s attention.

Here, the test moves from the stage of external packaging of the video to its content itself, as the content creator can try different introductions or editing versions, and then use the performance results to determine the version that achieves better interaction with the audience.

Gemini enters the liberation phase
On the video production side itself, YouTube has expanded its use of Google's Gemini models through a new conversational editing tool in Shorts and the YouTube Create app.

The tool allows the creator to start with an initial draft based on the images and videos they choose, and then use the conversation to request edits, such as cutting out unnecessary parts, rearranging shots to improve the tempo, synchronizing music with the beat, and adding text that appears on the screen.
