The American company Qualcomm has entered into a reciprocal deal with its Chinese counterpart Huawei to license a range of its technologies and use them in its upcoming chips.
The two companies did not disclose the value of their mutual licensing agreement, as the deal is still subject to review by the US Trade Commission, but a Huawei spokesperson believes the total value of the deal could exceed $6.9 billion.

Logic Folding represents one of the most prominent technologies that Huawei has unveiled in recent years, as it was revealed amid great celebration of what it represents for its artificial intelligence- related chips .
What does "Logic Folding" mean?
Logic folding represents a clear difference from the American technologies used to increase the power of processing chips, because it does not rely primarily on the number of transistors in the processor to increase its power, but rather on making the processors work together at the same time.
The concept of "Logic Folding" can be simplified as a technology that makes multiple processors work together at the same time to increase their computing power, while enhancing the speed of data transfer between these processors.
Huawei had specifically designed this technology to adapt to the increasing demands of artificial intelligence in terms of the processing power allocated to it, whether for running models or training them.
The company also relied on the same technology in building its flagship Ascend 9050 AI processors, which the company’s rotating chairman, Eric Xu, previously explained could not keep up with domestic demand due to production capacity constraints.
The details of the deal did not reveal whether Qualcomm intends to use the Logic Folding technology patent in its future processors.
