Discovery of an unexpected factor in controlling diabetes

A study conducted by researchers at Korea University College of Medicine showed that a regular daily routine plays a role in controlling blood sugar levels in patients with type 2 diabetes.

The study included 122 patients with type 2 diabetes who were treated with insulin. The participants wore continuous glucose monitoring devices and fitness trackers for ten days, and the researchers monitored the participants' sleep duration, physical activity, heart rate, and circadian rhythm regularity.

The results showed that 46.3% of patients with more stable circadian rhythms achieved their target blood glucose levels, compared to only 20% of patients with irregular daily routines. The strongest association between physical activity and blood glucose control was observed between 12:00 PM and 6:00 PM, with patients who were more active during these hours maintaining their blood glucose levels within the target range for a longer period and experiencing fewer fluctuations. Adequate sleep duration was also associated with more stable glucose levels and a lower risk of hypoglycemia.

The researchers believe that maintaining a regular sleep and physical activity routine may be an important addition to traditional treatments for diabetes.

Many studies indicate that regular exercise helps regulate hormone levels in the body, including insulin, which controls blood sugar, and hormones responsible for regulating the nervous system and many essential organs in the body.
