Haaretz: Netanyahu allows the UAE to operate in a "bubble" in Gaza despite Hamas not being disarmed

Haaretz quoted Netanyahu as saying he would allow the UAE to operate in a "bubble" in Gaza near areas under his control, despite Hamas not being disarmed, while stressing his refusal to allow foreign armed forces to enter or to rebuild the sector.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that Israel is not currently allowing the entry of armed foreign forces into the Gaza Strip, and stressed that the reconstruction of Gaza will not be permitted before Hamas is disarmed and the Strip is demilitarized.

Netanyahu pointed out that allowing the UAE to operate in a "bubble" near an Israeli-controlled area in the Gaza Strip involves implementing infrastructure projects there, despite Hamas remaining armed.

The approval for the establishment of the Emirati bubble was justified by the fact that they are people who provide a lot of aid to Israel.

The "Peace Council" plan stipulates that the UAE will fund the construction of a refugee camp in the Rafah area as part of a pilot project in which the Palestinian technocratic committee and the international stabilization force will enter an area under the control of the Israeli army and take over its administration before Hamas is disarmed.

However, this plan has not yet been implemented due to Israel's refusal to allow the committee and the stabilization force into the sector.

The High Representative for the Peace Council in Gaza, Nikolay Mladenov, had asked the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories, Yoram Halevy, last week to allow them to enter immediately.

However, a security source confirmed to Haaretz that there is no change in instructions at the moment, and that the political level has no intention of bringing the committee or force into the sector before Hamas is disarmed.
