The victory marked a comeback for the Hornbills after their opening defeat to Satria Muda Pertamina Bandung. The positive result also kept the home team's hopes of advancing to the semifinals alive.
"Hopefully, this is a good sign. We have to win our next games to get to the semifinals," said Hornbills player David Liberty Nuban, who contributed 14 points in the match, as quoted by IBL.
The Hornbills gradually built their lead from the first quarter. They closed the opening period with an 18-14 lead, then widened the gap by taking 18-13 leads in the second quarter and 18-12 in the third.
