The Grand Committee (PB) of the 6th Riau Islands Provincial Sports Week has determined that 2,038 athletes from seven districts/cities meet the requirements to take part in the competition in Tanjungpinang on November 1–8, 2026.

"All athlete data registered by the contingents from the seven districts/cities across the Riau Islands has previously undergone an inspection and verification process in accordance with the provisions set by the committee," said Amri from the Competition Division of the PB Porprov VI Riau Islands.
Amri said the verification was carried out carefully to ensure all athletes met the participation requirements and to prevent administrative issues or athlete status issues during the competition.
Even though 2,038 athletes have been determined to meet the requirements, the committee is still giving the contingent the opportunity to improve or perfect the participant data.
"This opportunity is provided so that all participant administration is completely organized before the match begins," he said.
Amri stated that the deadline for data correction was set for Sunday (October 25). After that, the verified and agreed-upon data will serve as the final reference for the match.
According to him, accuracy in data collection is important to ensure the smooth running of the competition and ensure the legitimacy of athletes representing each region.
"The athlete's eligibility is not only related to administrative completeness, but also concerns the certainty of participants who will represent each district and city in each sport," he said.
Meanwhile, the General Chairperson of the PB Porprov VI Kepri 2026, Asmin Patros, ensured that all stages of preparation continue to be refined so that the event runs orderly, sportingly, and in accordance with regulations.
He asked all contingents to immediately complete participant administration before the specified deadline.
"Once the process is complete, all attention will be directed to competition preparation and the athletes' efforts to achieve the best possible results for their respective regions," he said.
The 2026 Riau Islands Province VI Porprov is scheduled to take place on November 1–8 in Tanjungpinang City, featuring 30 sports across 30 competition locations.
At the 2022 Riau Islands Provincial Games in Bintan Regency, 2,302 athletes from seven regencies/cities were declared eligible to compete in 35 sports.
