Private sources told Asharq Al-Awsat that the Qatari club's management is planning to register the Algerian star in the local squad, in addition to registering him in the AFC Champions League elite competition to benefit from his continental experience.
The same sources explained that the contract concluded between the two parties will be short-term, with the inclusion of a clause that allows the player the option to leave next January, in addition to the existence of a clause with the option to renew for another season by agreement of the two parties.
This move comes after Mahrez (35 years old), the former Manchester City star, spent three outstanding years in the Saudi Al-Ahli jersey, during which he left a great technical mark and contributed effectively to leading the team to continental titles, thus establishing his name as one of the most prominent stars of the Saudi League in recent seasons.
