Trump describes users of the term artificial intelligence as "enemies"

US President Donald Trump renewed his call to use the term "superintelligence" instead of " artificial intelligence ," saying that the White House considers users of the latter term to be "enemies," without clarifying the nature of the consequences.

He justified his choice, according to what was reported by USA Today, by saying that the word "artificial" makes intelligence seem "fake," considering that this technology is not fake but "amazing," while stressing - at the same time - the need to deal with it with caution.

In late September, Trump signed an executive order mandating the use of the term "superintelligence" in U.S. government institutions.

Although the name cannot be imposed on the private sector, companies have begun to adopt it, notably Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta Group, and Elon Musk also uses the term in his posts on the X platform.

However, the term "superintelligence" has a different technical meaning. The educational platform Coursera explains that it is a theoretical form of artificial intelligence that does not currently exist. In its technical usage, the term refers to systems that surpass human capabilities across a wide range of cognitive tasks, not to current applications.

The controversy over the name comes amid growing concerns about the security of artificial intelligence systems and mounting criticism related to the expansion of data centers within the United States, at a time when Trump is known for his strong defense of this technology.
