The Palestinian Civil Society Organizations Alliance explained that the dilapidated state of the tents, the lack of heating, the shortage of blankets and winter clothing, in addition to the poor drainage of rainwater, threatens the lives of hundreds of thousands, especially children, women, the elderly and the sick.
The coalition called for the provision of rainproof and windproof tents and the replacement of damaged ones, the provision of blankets, winter clothing, and safe heating equipment, improved drainage systems in shelters and displacement camps, and the unrestricted entry of aid, shelter materials, and reconstruction supplies. It also stressed the urgent need for international action to provide safe and dignified shelter for displaced people and protect them from the dangers of winter.
In a related context, the rescue team of the Central Governorate managed to evacuate citizens from inside a three-story residential building, part of which collapsed as a result of strong winds opposite the Al-Ahli Club in Nuseirat, without any injuries being recorded, according to what was reported by the Civil Defense in the Gaza Strip.
In a scene reflecting the fragility of the shelters in which thousands of families live, strong winds uprooted a tent belonging to displaced people and blew it away, while the Director General of the Government Media Office, Ismail Al-Thawabta, confirmed that "the people of Gaza have been greatly wronged, and it is time to save them from a winter that threatens their lives and exacerbates their tragedy."
