What happened to the massacre?

"It was about three and a half hours. Then they said, 'It's time. '

A villager who survived the May 11 massacre by military council soldiers in Mon Tai village, Yae Oo Township, Sagaing Division, recounts.

On June 17, RFA's Washington, D.C., headquarters released a video of soldiers taking part in a mass extermination campaign in Sagaing Division. Then, when further investigation, It is learned that the place where more than 30 people were handcuffed and detained was inside the monastery compound of Mon Dai Pin Village, Yae-U Township, Sagaing Division. The names of the victims were also obtained. I also had the opportunity to interview some of the villagers who survived.

At around 6 am on May 10, more than 150 military council soldiers stormed the village from outside the village with heavy artillery fire, forcing most villagers to flee in cars and motorcycles. Some who could not escape took refuge in the village monastery. Two PDF youths at the top of the village were killed when soldiers opened fire on them at the entrance to the village. But locals say the detainees were civilians.

An unnamed villager, who was taking refuge in the monastery compound at the time, told RFA that at around 9 a.m., military council troops entered the monastery through three entrances to the east of the village.

"They arrived at about 9 o'clock. He came in with a shotgun and a grenade. What about the west gate? What about the east? Q: What about the north? Q: They ordered the people under the monastery to take out U Pa Zin Pauk Sa. The people under the school gave out all the audience, so when U Pa Zin released them, they asked us to sit in a row in front of the school. Separate men and women. After a while, the men were taken under the East Pagoda. The women were made to sit on their knees and called back once. When the women started crying or laughing, they talked to the women for a long time and put them back under the locker.

The villagers' statements were found on the soldier's mobile phone collected by the Ayeyarwaddy villagers. It looks like a sack that encloses with a drawstring.

"From there, I took him to the south of the village and took him out of the front door to the school. He tied the ropes at the school and tied the ropes to the ropes. Later, when the ropes arrived, he tied them with ropes and ropes. It will be around 10:30 and 11:30. There is a large pavilion to the west of the monastery.

"I checked. I was tied up and beaten. I was stripped naked. I was beaten with a fishing rod. I was stabbed with a machete. 'How many PDFs are there in this village?' "Do not raise your head, but raise your head and kick it in the back."

They were beaten in the mosque until about 5 pm that day and locked in a room on the east side of the monastery compound. There was no drinking water or sewage in the room and no food was provided during their detention. The next day, May 11, the massacre began.

"At around 6 am on the morning of the 11th, 10 young men were pulled out. They were tied up, their faces were tied, and they were taken to the village to carry their belongings. There was a river in the east of the village.

In the afternoon, the military council began to kill the others.

"At about two and a half hours, they pulled us out. It was a big pagoda. It was named Zeya Theikdi. We were asked to sit in a line in front of the pagoda in pairs. The people standing from left to right were standing there.

"We said, 'Oh, I'm gone, I'm going to kill you. We thought so, and the gods were playing there. The fourth time, the teacher said,' It's time, let's go. '

"The teacher is sitting in a dormitory with a chair. The teacher is pulling the scarf and saying, 'Shall we have to stick it?'

"About three and a half hours. Q: What did they say? It was time to beat them up. When they beat me, they were the ones who tied my face. The man who closed his eyes was bound with rags. That back rope. Q: Two of them were taken together and taken to the southern part of the swamp. South of the monastery "

The other eight, including him, were returned to the inn and the door was locked. However, the villagers said that they could see the inside of the village from a distance because the windows with iron bars were open.

"I heard gunshots for more than three hours and saw the lights," he said. From school The windows are made of steel, so they are open. Q: The gun was a roar in the sky. You hit a hundred points with a shield. "

That evening, an army officer came to their room and warned them to leave.

"At around 6pm on the 11th, a three-pronged officer came and said, 'He had a gun strapped to his waist. In the morning,' We'll be back. Keep the key unlocked. Then in the morning you run to your house. '

This is the last time they see the soldiers. The soldiers left the monastery at around 2 am the next day after passing through the second night without food or water. Fortunately, eight survivors escaped when a Corinthian opened the door to the closed shelter in the morning.

He said he saw the burnt bodies of fellow villagers who had been arrested along with other villagers as they chased down other houses that were still being set on fire by military council forces in the village.

"When I looked at the houses, I thought they were cut in the front yard. There were bloodstains. When I saw the bloodstains, I saw that the first house to be burned was found to be dry. The beds were turned upside down and burned.

According to another villager, the soldiers left the eight villagers unharmed at the request of a village monk and a Mon Dai Pin monk living in Naypyidaw.

The detainees included men as well as about 50 women and children. They were released on the morning of May 12, when the soldiers returned. They were not tortured by soldiers, a security woman told RFA on condition of anonymity.

"Girls are not just young men," she said. Because there are so many adults, they say, Some are blind. The children cried because they were afraid. So do not invite women. Because men were the only ones called, the women had to live under the pagoda. "I don't do anything to girls."

More than 400 houses and a population of about 1,900 have been found in the village. According to NLD MP Myint Htwe's Facebook page on May 14, a torn body was found on a robe.

Q: When you get to the skeleton, everything is stacked, so the club is not perfect. Dogs can still eat because the house is on fire. There are six such clubs. Six people found two houses. At first glance, the dog had not eaten. Looking back, the dog was playing inside. You can still eat dogs because you already know them. ” A family member was also among the 29 people killed. The villager said that not only NLD members but also about five USDP members were among the villagers killed. "As far as I know, I know the names of those who were killed, Aung San Win, Kan Win, Myint Tun, Nae Lin and Moe Khaing. "Four or five of them were killed." When contacted by RFA, RFA spokeswoman Daw Ya Min Myint Swe said she could not confirm this. The man, who survived the abduction, said he was lucky enough to be free, but said he could not forget the crime. “I am not satisfied with that at all. I can no longer be satisfied. The mind is " A total of 29 men between the ages of 25 and 64 were killed in the May 11 massacre. Of those 29, U Kyaw Khaing; U Kyaw Paing and U Aung Kyaw are three brothers, and U Zaw Moe Hlaing and U Zaw Lwin are brothers, and U Kyaw Swa Lin and U Nyi Nyi Min are brothers. Pyu Saw Htee, a member of the military council, was among the soldiers who entered the village. The soldiers entered Montaing village through Shwe Tan Gyi village and left for Pontaka village on the morning of the 12th. According to RFA sources, soldiers from LIB 708, based in Taikgyi Township, Rangoon Division, were among the perpetrators of the crime. The battalion commander of LIB 708 is Lieutenant Colonel Tun Lin Aung. CDM Captain Min Maung Maung said that the leader of the Rangoon Division Operations Command No. 4, which commanded them, was Brigadier General Kyi Theik. “That 708 is (Operations Command Headquarters) Brigade 4. The 4th Brigade is also launching an operation. Sakakha 4 is the weakest army in Burma. Both in terms of operation. Mentality The weakest in terms of discipline. Sagaing has become like In Din. They are destroying evidence. "There was no evidence that he was killed and burned at the same time." Capt. Htet Myat, another military officer who joined the CDM, said that in order to do so, he had to take orders from his superiors according to military procedures. "It depends on what they report to the villagers when they are arrested. The main thing is how they report it. Do you want to submit a PDF to the villagers committing acts of terrorism? "Did you see any bombings or did you attack them when they were arrested? There are questions like that. However, RFA did not receive any evidence that Lt. Col. Tun Lin Aung and Brigadier General Kyi Theik were directly involved in the cyclone. One villager said that the village of Mon Daing was under the control of the People's Administration, which is affiliated with the PDF groups, and may have been targeted by the military council. When asked by RFA on June 16 about the incident… "We will only be able to give an answer after investigating the matter on the ground," he said. "We are asking." A spokesman for the group, General Zaw Min Tun, said: To date, however, the military council has not released any information. A villager who escaped the morning of the soldiers' entry said he will never forget the scene on May 12.

"We found three blood stains near the house, so we thought it was three," he said. ”

A family member was also among the 29 people killed. The villager said that not only NLD members but also about five USDP members were among the villagers killed.

"As far as I know, I know the names of those who were killed, Aung San Win, Kan Win, Myint Tun, Nae Lin and Moe Khaing. "Four or five of them were killed."

When contacted by RFA, RFA spokeswoman Daw Ya Min Myint Swe said she could not confirm this.

The man, who survived the abduction, said he was lucky enough to be free, but said he could not forget the crime.

“I am not satisfied with that at all. I can no longer be satisfied. The mind is "

A total of 29 men between the ages of 25 and 64 were killed in the May 11 massacre.

"There was no evidence that he was killed and burned at the same time."

Capt.

When asked by RFA on June 16 about the incident…

"We will only be able to give an answer after investigating the matter on the ground," he said. "We are asking."

A spokesman for the group, General Zaw Min Tun, said: To date, however, the military council has not released any information.     RFA
