Algeria: Gas production will increase by 10 billion cubic meters in 2023

Algeria: Gas production will increase by 10 billion cubic meters in 2023 The director of strategy and planning at the Algerian state hydrocarbon company, Sonatrach, said that the company's production of gas will rise by 4 billion cubic meters in 2022, and by 10 billion next year. The Algerian company, Sonatrach, announced on Wednesday that its gas production will rise by 4 billion cubic meters in 2022, and by 10 billion next year. This was stated by the director of strategy and planning at Sonatrach, Rachid Zerdani, speaking to the official Algerian radio. Zardani explained that Sonatrach is conducting development operations on several oil and gas discoveries, in addition to improving recovery capabilities in the exploited fields (raising their production). In this regard, he said, "The current development processes will allow us to increase production by 4 billion cubic meters this year... We expect production to rise between 8 to 10 billion cubic meters in 2023." Sonatrach's strategy and planning official pointed out that Algeria's production is currently estimated at 130 billion cubic meters annually, about 50 billion of which are directed to the internal market. Since the beginning of this year, Sonatrach has announced significant oil and gas discoveries in various regions in the south of the country. For months, Algeria has received great European interest in search of additional quantities of gas, as part of Western efforts to free itself from dependence on Russian gas. A few days ago, the Algerian Energy Ministry said that the country will deliver Italy an additional 10 billion cubic meters of gas within the coming months. Algeria supplies Italy with gas through the "Transmad / Enrico Mattei" pipeline, which reaches the island of Sicily via Tunisia, with a maximum annual transport capacity of 32 billion cubic meters. Algeria also supplies Spain with gas through the "Medgaz" pipeline, which links directly between the two countries, with an annual capacity of 8 billion cubic meters.
