Emine Erdogan receives the "Achievement of Muslim Women" award in New York The Council of Islamic Institutions (USCMO) awarded First Lady Erdoğan, wife of the Turkish President, the Council of Muslim Women's Achievement Award, which the Council presents to Muslim women in honor of their achievements in community service.  First Lady Emine Erdoğan, wife of the Turkish President, received in New York the "Achievement of Muslim Women" award presented by the Council of Islamic Institutions (USCMO) to Muslim women in honor of their achievements in community service.  This comes as the First Lady accompanies Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, during his visit to New York, USA, to participate in the work of the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly.  Mrs. Erdogan gave a speech during the award ceremony, pointing to the Ukraine war and its repercussions on the exacerbation of the refugee crisis around the world.  "As you know, our lands throughout history have been a safe haven for those who have fled wars and oppression. We have opened the doors of this haven for our Ukrainian brothers and sisters as well," Erdogan said.  "As Turkey, we will continue to be the voice of all the oppressed from Africa and Ukraine to Palestine and Syria on international platforms. I hope that this effort will turn into a common endeavour for all of humanity," she added.
