The Argentine President plans to hold a summit of Latin American countries to support Ukraine

Argentine President Javier Miley said that he plans to hold a summit of Latin American countries to discuss ways to support Ukraine for the current year 2024.

The Financial Times newspaper indicated that Miley's policy towards Ukraine differs from the neutral position adopted by important countries in the region such as Brazil and Mexico.

The newspaper confirmed that Miley gives priority to alliances with countries that he claims “defend freedom,” including the United States, Israel, and Ukraine, to which he provided two Russian-made military helicopters.

At the end of last year, Javier Milli won the presidential elections in Argentina. He said during his election campaign that he intended to focus on the United States of America and Israel in foreign policy, and called for rejecting cooperation with China, Brazil, and Russia. Also, the country's new authorities have abandoned the planned joining of the BRICS group as of January 1, 2024, but Milley has softened some of his positions after assuming office.

The Russian ambassador to Buenos Aires, Dmitry Feoktistov, had said, in a previous interview with Novosti, that representatives of the Argentine presidential administration had  announced, in personal communications, their readiness for mutually beneficial interaction with Russia.
