A number of Instagram users discovered a secret game hidden in the direct messaging (DM) feature on the app.
The hidden game can be accessed by opening a DM chat and sending an emoji to a friend, then clicking on the symbol to move to a yellow screen containing a “black paddle” that must be moved left and right to push back the moving emoji rice and prevent it from falling, which simulates the classic game of Pong on “ Atari" in the 1970s.
The game can also be activated by clicking on an emoji that someone else sent you in a direct message.
Although the game works on iOS and Android, not everyone can access it.
In an email to TechCrunch, an Instagram spokesperson said that the company is always working on finding new ways to make “the app fun,” which is why we launched the game.
However, the company has not shared any details about its availability.
