Di Giannantonio targets to take the first two rows of the Qatar MotoGP grid

Jakarta - Pertamina Enduro VR46 racer Fabio Di Giannantonio targets to take at least the first two rows of the grid in the Qatar MotoGP qualifying session which will be held at the Lusail International Circuit, Saturday.

"The main goal is to penetrate qualifying two (Q2) and then the first two rows on the grid, which is important for the (main) race," said Di Giannantonio, quoted from VR46's official statement.

The racer who is familiarly called Diggia finished in P8 in the first free practice session with a best lap time of 1 minute 52.987 seconds. He was only 0.363 seconds ahead of Jorge Martin (Prima Pramac) who finished in first place in the session.

In the second free practice session, rain suddenly poured down on Lusail and forced the racers to quickly adapt to the wet track. Diggia recorded the fastest lap time in the second practice session with 2 minutes 07.997 seconds.

“We had to change our plans because the rain made things more complicated. But I'm still happy with how I feel on the bike in dry weather. "We are quite fast and I am confident for the qualifying session," he said.

Meanwhile, Marco Bezzecchi had less good luck by finishing in 18th position in the first free practice. The Italian racer recorded the best lap time of 1 minute 53.626 seconds in the first session and 2 minutes 08.648 in the second session.

“In terms of racing, I work on the same aspects. "I had difficulty stopping the motorbike, I felt the sensation that it was always wide and not perfect," said Bezzecchi.

"We have taken some steps, we have a path to follow, but I also have to adapt my riding style," he added.

On the other hand, the racers will return to the track and undertake the final practice session for the Qatar MotoGP at 17.40 WIB. After that, they will take part in qualifying and Sprint which will start at 18.40 WIB and 23.00 WIB respectively.
