Jamiat Ulema Hind strict notice to NCPCR Chairman : India

Mahmood Madani said: Stop making misleading statements to defame the religious schools, otherwise, warning of strict legal action, advice to retract your statement in writing within seven days.

For the past few years, National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) Chairman Priyank Kanungu has been in the headlines against madrasas and religious institutions spread across the country, making baseless and misleading statements. In recent days, he has also given a misleading statement against Jamiat Open School, on which Jamiat Ulema-i-Hind has taken strict action. In this regard, on behalf of President Jamiat Ulema Hind Maulana Mahmood Asad Madani, the well-known lawyer Vrinda Guror has written to the NCPCR Chairman and advised him to withdraw his statement in writing within seven days, otherwise legal action will be taken against him. A warning has been given.

It should be clear that on March 13, Qangu had written a letter to the National Institute of Open School (NIOS) terming the campaign of Jamiat Open School, an educational institution of Jamiat Ulema Hind, as an 'organised crime', and Baseless allegations of receiving funds from abroad, particularly Pakistan, were made. The NCPCR Chairman also reiterated this allegation on a TV channel. Maulana Mahmood Madani says that the said chairman is also taking the lead in defaming religious schools and making absurd allegations against them which are not acceptable under any circumstances.

A press statement issued by Jamiat Ulema Hind said that the notice sent to Priyank Kanungu clearly stated that the attempt to defame a historical and patriotic party like Jamiat Ulema Hind and to make false allegations against it. Not acceptable under any circumstances. Also, for a person sitting in such a high position, it doesn't even give adornment. The president of Jamiat Ulema Hind has denied the baseless allegations leveled by the notice. These allegations spread through various media channels have affected the reputation of Jamiat Open School, an institution dedicated to serving the educational needs of marginalized communities, especially the Muslim minority.

The release further stated that the name given to Qangu Jamiat Open School as 'Open Madrassa' is not only incorrect but also malicious. Also, his derogatory comments about religious madrassas are damaging the constitutional identity and rights of these institutions. They should understand that 'religious schools' are recognized in the legal scheme of the country. 1(5) of the Right to Compulsory Education Act, 2009 specifically states that the Act shall not apply to Madrasas, Vedic Pathshalas and other institutions imparting primarily religious education. Thus the legitimacy of madrasas is also legally recognized in Articles 29 and 30 of the country's constitution, as well as various state-level laws that recognize these institutions of religious education.

Moreover, being the legally appointed chairman, choosing a phrase like 'organised crimes against children' is very sad and defamatory of Jamiat Ulema Hind. Religious education is the fundamental right of minorities, religious education is also provided by other religions and institutes are established. But they have given evidence of nihilism by targeting religious schools only.

As far as finances are concerned, the Chairman has entrusted the collection of funds to Pakistan. They should know that Jamiat Ulema Hind strictly adheres to the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act, 2010 for any foreign contribution, and for this purpose has a renewed FCRA certificate issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs. Needless to say, no money has anything to do with Pakistan. The issue of FCRA law is beyond the jurisdiction of NCPCR, yet they have crossed their limits by taking the name of Pakistan, their words are rooted in lies, conjectures and unbelievable claims.
