Why shouldn't we give up bread completely?

Dr. Natalia Denisova, a nutritionist and chief researcher at the Federal Research Center for Nutrition and Biotechnology, warned against completely excluding bread from the diet because it negatively affects health.

The expert pointed out in an interview with aif.ru that giving up bread will lead to a decrease in performance and intellectual activity and increased fatigue due to a deficiency of vitamin B1. In addition, there may be a deficiency of vitamin PP, which is necessary for the brain, as well as vitamin B12, which is necessary for eyesight.

The doctor warns that giving up bread leads to a deficiency of folic acid, which leads to weak immunity, and because of the lack of dietary fiber, the functioning of the digestive system is disturbed, noting that eating bread in moderation contributes to improving the health of the digestive system.

The expert advises eating rye bread, which provides the body with more than a third of its daily needs of vitamins B1 and E, magnesium and phosphorus, and contains a lot of iron, 78 percent of the body’s daily need for this element. The presence of folic acid helps absorb this mineral well. It is also rich in vitamin B2, PP and calcium.

According to her, 100 grams of it contain 30-35 mg of selenium, which is more than half of the body’s daily need of this element. She points out that diabetics and those trying to control their weight can eat it because it contains a high percentage of dietary fiber, which ensures a feeling of fullness for a long period and does not cause an increase in the level of glucose in the blood.
