The Parliament of Nepal had approved the new political map of the country in June 2020 through a constitutional amendment proposal. Foreign Minister S Jaishankar had said that Nepal's unilateral decision to include the map of the disputed area between the two countries in the new notes will not have any impact on the actual situation. Our position is very clear. We are talking about our limitations from an established platform, but in the meantime, the unilateral decision they took cannot change the situation between us or the reality of that place.

Nepal had said that the Constitution of Nepal applies only within the country. But Nepali rupee notes also circulate in the border areas with the neighboring country India.
