KKP: Government committed to encouraging lobster cultivation development





Jakarta - The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) emphasized that the government is committed to continuing to encourage the development of lobster cultivation domestically, in order to improve the fisheries sector and support the sustainability of Indonesia's marine resources.

"This harvest is a very good initial step as a form of government commitment in encouraging the development of lobster cultivation in the country," said the Director of Marine Fish, Directorate General of Aquaculture, Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, Tinggal Hermawan, on the sidelines of attending the first lobster harvest at the Tembeles Beach cultivation location, Penyaringan Village, Mendoyo District, Jembrana Regency, Bali, confirmed in Jakarta, Tuesday.

Just attending the first lobster harvest developed by the private company PT Gajaya Aquaculture International together with PT Ratuworld Aquaculture International and PT Mutagreen Aquaculture International in Jembrana Regency.

He appreciated the first harvest which marked the development of national lobster cultivation on an industrial scale in the country.

He said that the lobster harvest was carried out by private parties who were fully committed to implementing Ministerial Regulation Number 7 of 2024 concerning Lobster Cultivation.

"I believe this is an important step forward for the development of national lobster cultivation," he said.

It remains to say that the facilities provided by the Indonesian-Vietnamese JV cultivation company in Jembrana, Bali are very adequate. On land, there are special pools for nurseries and fry. While at sea, there is a longline sinking cage system used to raise lobsters.

According to him, lobster cultivation techniques in Jembrana can inspire other cultivators throughout Indonesia, thus encouraging the transformation of lobster cultivation techniques in Indonesia.

In the same place, Jembrana Regent I Nengah Tamba assessed that the existence of industrial-scale lobster cultivation in his area resulted in the transfer of knowledge and technology.

According to him, armed with this knowledge, a number of traditional fishermen transformed into aquaculture fishermen.
