Jakarta - The Vanita Naraya Foundation views the importance of the women, peace, and security (WPS) agenda because half of Indonesia's population are women.
"WPS can be a way for us to see how to see women as active actors, not only seeing women in an inferior construction in the context of defense, but rather women becoming one of the central parts of the issue of national resilience and defense in various sectors," said Chair of the Vanita Naraya Foundation Diah Pitaloka in an FGD entitled "Women, Peace, and Security" in Jakarta, Tuesday (25/2).
Diah Pitaloka views that the mapping of women, peace, and security (WPS) is very broad, ranging from defense strategies to domestic violence (KDRT).
According to him, security with a traditional approach often focuses on military strength and political stability.
Yet security does not only mean the absence of war, but also the existence of prosperity, access to education, health services, and social justice.
So WPS can also cover cyber security, including cases of children addicted to online games , and children who are victims of terrorism.
