Jakarta - The Ministry of Transportation noted that the number of bus passengers continues to show a significant increase ahead of Eid al-Fitr 2025/1446 Hijri.
"Based on daily data from the 2025 Integrated Eid Transportation Center Post, the number of public transportation passengers continues to increase, especially for bus transportation which recorded a significant spike," said Head of the Ministry of Transportation's Communication and Public Information Bureau Budi Rahardjo in Jakarta, Friday.
He said, based on data up to D-4 of Lebaran, the number of bus passengers increased by 94 percent compared to the previous day, from 155,343 to 300,973 people. Cumulatively, since the start of monitoring on D-10, the number of bus passengers has reached more than 1,168,712 people.
Budi said that the increase showed that buses were still one of the main choices for people in making homecoming trips.
"We noted that bus transportation has increased significantly. This shows public trust in land transportation services, both in terms of affordability and accessibility," he said.
In addition to buses, other modes of transportation such as trains and air transportation also experienced an increase in the number of passengers cumulatively. Train passengers cumulatively rose 5.62 percent to 2,127,368 people, while air transportation increased 0.82 percent to 1,748,696 people.
The movement of private vehicles via toll roads and arterial routes exiting Jabodetabek also increased, with the number of cars exiting toll roads and arterial routes in Jabodetabek reaching 1,636,725 and motorbikes exiting arterial routes amounting to 2,487,781 units.
With the increasing number of travelers, the Ministry of Transportation urges the public to always pay attention to the latest information regarding traffic engineering, fleet readiness, and facilities available at the main terminals.
