Neuropsychologist Dr. Nina Petrovskaya points out that to keep your mind active, learning new things can help prevent memory loss with age.
According to her, learning a foreign language, playing a musical instrument, solving crossword puzzles, or reading poetry, for example, can help establish neural connections in the brain. Additionally, changing your routine and taking care of your pets can help improve and develop your memory.
"Pet owners have a rich social life because they connect with other pet owners, including through various online groups, and read information about pet care. Additionally, daily walks with their pet are moderate physical activity, and numerous studies have shown that it helps improve blood circulation to the brain," she says.
The expert advises older adults to adopt a socially active lifestyle, communicate more with friends, and participate in social events, as this stimulates cognitive functions and prevents memory loss.
