Minister of Culture says Ramadan cultural tradition is Indonesia's intangible cultural heritage


Jakarta - The Ministry of Culture held a Silaturahmi and Halalbihalal for Eid al-Fitr 1446 Hijriah at the Main Building of the Ministry of Culture, Jakarta, Tuesday, where the Minister of Culture (Menbud) Fadli Zon said that cultural traditions related to Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr are Indonesia's intangible cultural heritage.

"The month of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr are not only worship, but also a very long cultural tradition in the country. Preparations to welcome Ramadan to the tradition of breaking the fast together, Iftar, are part of our intangible cultural heritage. Even the Iftar tradition has been inscribed by UNESCO by various countries, Indonesia is also exploring similar steps," said the Minister of Culture.

Furthermore, Minister of Culture Fadli Zon also highlighted the return of work enthusiasm after the Eid holiday as a moment of "revival" or awakening towards nature.
