Ministry of Health: Screening and vaccination are steps to eliminate cervical cancer.





 The Director of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) at the Ministry of Health, Siti Nadia Tarmizi, said that screening and vaccination for Human Papillomavirus (HPV) are efforts to eliminate cervical cancer in Indonesia, which is targeted to be achieved in 2030.

"It has become part of the global commitment in 2022 that we issue the National Action Plan (RAN) and it is hoped that in 2030 we will achieve the target of 90 percent of children before the age of 15, both boys and girls, getting the HPV vaccination," said Nadia in a press conference held.

He explained that people born in 1999 and above are entitled to receive the HPV vaccine free of charge from the government, while people born before 1999 can undergo screening or early detection of cervical cancer.
