The non-profit organization Animal Friends Jogja together with Sinergia Animal International held the Act for Farmed Animals campaign to promote animal welfare efforts.
As quoted in the organization's press release Act for Farmed Animals Campaign Chair Elfha Shavira said that the animal lover organization encourages financial institutions to stop implementing funding systems that are detrimental to animals, the environment, and society.
"We need real commitment from financial institutions to stop funding a system that causes animal suffering, environmental damage and public health risks," he said.
Elfha cited the 2025 edition of the Banks for Animals report from the Act for Farmed Animals which stated that as many as 58 percent of the banks analyzed did not have formal policies regarding animal welfare.
The report analyzes the policies of 100 financial institutions worldwide, including Indonesia, regarding funding for industrial activities such as animal agriculture, the use of animals for cosmetic testing, the use of animals in entertainment, and the fur industry.
