China introduces new measurement and control system to boost quantum computer production.

A Chinese company has released Origin Tianji 4.0, a self-developed superconducting quantum measurement and control system that supports a quantum computer with more than 500 qubits, marking the advancement of China's production capabilities in quantum computing.

Origin Quantum, a startup based in eastern China’s Hefei City, has built and refined the fourth-generation system based on the previous version, 3.0, used in Origin Wukong, the third-generation superconducting quantum computer independently developed in China. The new system brings improvements in scalability, integration, stability and automation.Dubbed the “nerve center” of a quantum computer, the measurement and control system manages precise signal generation, acquisition and control for quantum chips.Kong Weicheng, deputy director of the Anhui Quantum Computing Engineering Research Center and head of the system development team, said that Origin Tianji 4.0 will improve efficient control and accurate reading of quantum chips, and accelerate the R&D and delivery time of quantum computers.Since it went into operation on January 6, 2024, Origin Wukong has served users in 139 countries and regions more than 26 million times, completing more than 380,000 quantum computing tasks, covering industries ranging from finance to biomedicine, according to the center.
