Chinese PM: Indonesia-China an example of mutually beneficial cooperation

Chinese Premier Li Qiang said that China and Indonesia are examples for major developing countries in terms of uniting efforts for solidarity, development and win-win cooperation.

The statement was delivered by Li in a written statement upon his arrival in Jakarta as part of an official visit to Indonesia at the invitation of the President of the Republic of Indonesia (RI) Prabowo Subianto.

Li said China and Indonesia are friends and neighbors across the ocean as well as close partners with a shared future.

He added that this year marks 75 years of China-Indonesia diplomatic relations which have continued to develop steadily.

Later, Li stressed that the long-standing friendship between the two countries has grown stronger over time and practical cooperation has yielded many results.

Li said that the two meetings between Chinese President Xi Jinping and President Prabowo last year had reached important consensus on building a China-Indonesia community with a shared future that has regional and global influence, elevating bilateral relations to a higher level, and opening up new opportunities for both sides to strengthen cooperation in various fields.

China, Li stressed, is ready to work with Indonesia to continue consolidating the "five pillars" of cooperation, namely politics, economy, people-to-people and cultural exchanges, maritime and security.

He called on both sides to enrich the China-Indonesia community with future harmony, work together to pursue modernization, and make greater contributions to regional and global peace, stability and development.

Li then stated that, marking the 70th anniversary of the Bandung Conference (Asian-African Conference), during those 70 years the spirit of solidarity, friendship and cooperation of Bandung has provided guidance for the development of independent and self-reliant Asian and African countries, injected impetus into the unity and cooperation of Global South countries, and become an important norm in international relations.
