Erdogan: Turkish Cyprus is an integral part of the Turkish world...and what is happening in Gaza is an unprecedented humanitarian tragedy.

This came in a post on his X account, following his participation in the informal summit of the Organization of Turkic States held in the Hungarian capital, Budapest.

Erdogan said the Budapest summit is a clear indication of the depth of the friendly relations between Türkiye and Hungary, stressing that hosting the summit in an observer state for the first time carries special significance for Budapest's standing in Ankara.

He added that the Budapest Declaration, signed during the summit, would be beneficial to the Turkic world and all friendly and sisterly countries . He emphasized that Turkey attaches special importance to the Middle Corridor (a trade route project extending from China to Europe via Turkey), which constitutes a strategic route linking East and West. He called for strengthening cooperation within the organization to ensure its success and supporting member states in this regard.

In a related context, Erdoğan noted that the tragedies that occurred in Cyprus, Nagorno-Karabakh, and Bosnia, as well as the current events in Gaza, "remind everyone of the need to think beyond national borders." He noted that making the voice of the Turkish world heard in international forums will contribute to establishing a more just global order based on rights, justice, and shared responsibility.

The Turkish president stressed the need to strengthen solidarity with Turkish Cypriots, saying, "We expect the Turkish world to stand firmly with their struggle for rights, freedom, and justice," emphasizing that "the image of the Turkish family will always be incomplete unless the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus is present in it."

Erdoğan continued that the decision taken during the summit to grant the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus observer status in the Turkish Academy represents an important step toward consolidating its position within the broader Turkish system.

Regarding regional developments, the Turkish President expressed his satisfaction with the progress made in the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, congratulating Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, whom he described as a "victorious leader," and expressing his confidence that he will go down in history as the leader who brought peace to the Caucasus region.

Regarding the situation in the Gaza Strip, Erdogan described the situation there as "one of the worst humanitarian disasters of modern times," noting that civilians are facing conditions resembling "hell," and that the United Nations has warned of the potential death of 14,000 infants if humanitarian aid does not arrive urgently.

Concluding his post, President Erdoğan emphasized that the Turkish world, through full solidarity and mutual respect, is capable of moving forward together toward a shared future based on cooperation, stability, and peace.
