Gus Rommy's confession that he flew to Makassar to persuade Amran to become PPP General Chair

Chairman of the PPP DPP Advisory Council M Romahurmuziy admitted that he had flown to Makassar just to persuade the Minister of Agriculture Amran Sulaiman to be willing to run as PPP General Chairman.

"I needed to convince him (Amran) many times to be willing to run, to the point where I had to go to Makassar to convince him," said the man who is familiarly called Gus Rommy in an official press release received.

Even though he had been persuaded with various efforts, Gus Rommy admitted that Amran could not yet make a decision.

Rommy explained that Amran was still busy with his activities as Minister of Agriculture.

"Mr. Amran is still waiting and seeing. This is purely due to his busy schedule, which has a heavy burden as the backbone of the government's food sovereignty program," he explained.

According to Rommy, Amran does have all the criteria needed to lead the PPP. In terms of personality, Amran is considered to have a good work ethic because he is considered successful in leading the Ministry of Agriculture in the era of Jokowi and President Prabowo Subianto.

In addition, Amran's background as a businessman is considered to be able to provide logistical support to bring PPP forward.

"Mr. Amran is a successful businessman. It's just that there's not enough publicity for his business success," said Gus Rommy.
