Acting Chairman of the Jakarta Provincial Association (Asprov), Eko Setyawan, explained the reason for his and other administrators' absence from the youth football competition at the Air Force Field.
Governor Pramono Anung opened the competition. However, at the event, neither Eko nor other administrators were present.
"I don't know if there is a Jakarta U-17 League competition in Jakarta, what is certain is that the DKI PSSI Asprov has not given a recommendation for the event. We, the PSSI Asprov management, certainly support the youth competition in Jakarta," said Eko, quoted from a written statement received by reporters on Monday.
"There are also many private operators who have proven their quality and have been organizing for years, and we provide official recommendation letters which will then be used as attachments for permits and requests for assignment of match equipment from PSSI, all have rules, all have regulations that must be followed," he continued.
He emphasized that his party will always provide support to all activities organized by the private sector, especially by the government. He also hopes that all football activities are led by devices that have official licenses from PSSI recommendations.
In the future, Asprov DKI also wants these events to be connected to official events from PSSI, such as the Soeratin Cup and Elite Pro Academy."If they do not get recommendations from PSSI, it is certain that the match equipment is not from us PSSI," he added,
Nevertheless, Eko expressed his gratitude to the Governor of Jakarta, Pramono Anung, who has supported the youth soccer activities in Jakarta."Of course this is a new hope for all of us so that Jakarta can produce young soccer talents and be able to enter the national team squad later," he concluded.
