Indonesian tennis player Janice Tjen won the ITF W35 Goyang tournament in South Korea.
In the final, Janice defeated the fifth seed from China, Lin Zhu, with a score of 6-4, 6-1.
"It's been an amazing two weeks. Happy to get the singles title and be able to get revenge in the final," said Janice as quoted from the Indonesian tennis website, Sunday.
Janice is currently ranked 372nd in the WTA singles world. For Janice, this victory is even more special because Lin Zhu is the opponent who eliminated her in the third round of the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games.
Lin Zhu, who is currently ranked 305th in the WTA rankings, was once ranked 31st in the world.
Janice made it to the final of the tournament with relative ease. In the semifinals, Janice won 7-5, 6-1 over Japanese tennis player Saki Imamura. Previously, she overcame another Chinese representative, Yidi Yang, with a score of 6-1, 6-0 in the quarterfinals, and won 6-2, 6-1 over Sofya Lansere in the second round.
Before winning this tournament, Janice also performed impressively in the same arena the previous week. She managed to reach the singles final and won the doubles title with Saki Imamura from Japan.
