Pisa SC is confirmed to be promoted to Serie A next season after waiting 34 years to return to compete in the highest caste of the Italian League.
Pisa's promotion to Serie A was confirmed after their closest rivals, Spezia, were defeated by Reggiana with a score of 1-2, Sunday evening local time.
The result means that Pisa, who are in second place in the Serie B standings with 72 points from 36 matches, are no longer able to be caught by Spezia in third place with 63 points with two matches remaining.
Filippo Inzaghi's squad ended their wait to appear in Italy's top football competition after last playing in 1991.
In addition, this is also a sweet achievement for Pisa after previously experiencing relegation to division 5 of the Italian football competition.
