The Minahasa community sports association POR Maesa held the 2025 POR Maesa International Table Tennis Championship which was attended by hundreds of table tennis athletes from seven countries which took place at the Donic Pingpong Center May 9 - 11.
"(The championship) is the first time we have held it in order to elevate athletes from North Sulawesi and Indonesia to the international level," said the Protector of the Maesa POR Executive Board, Petrus Reinhard Golose, to the media crew after opening the championship.
The championship was attended by 280 table tennis athletes from South Korea, China, Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, and Indonesia. The championship competed in four categories, namely Kawanua doubles (divisions 7, 8, and 9), Kawanua/non Kawanua doubles (divisions 5 and 6), U-19 mixed doubles, and senior mixed doubles.
Golose explained that the championship held to celebrate the 101st anniversary of POR Maesa also campaigned for an important mission, namely minimizing online gambling practices and drug abuse in society, including thuggery practices.
"So with sports (we invite) to eliminate other things (that are detrimental)," said the former Head of the Indonesian National Narcotics Agency (BNN).
