"Provocation and violation." Egypt condemns the occupation's decision to establish 22 settlements in the occupied West Bank.

This came in a statement from the Egyptian Foreign Ministry , which emphasized that this decision represents a "flagrant violation of international legitimacy resolutions, most notably the Fourth Geneva Convention, Security Council resolutions including Resolution 2334, and the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice regarding the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories."

Egypt affirmed that the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the June 4, 1967, borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, is "an inalienable right of the Palestinian people and an irreversible, legitimate international demand."

The Foreign Ministry's statement considered that the Israeli occupation's settlements constitute a major obstacle to achieving the two-state solution and a just, lasting, and comprehensive peace.

Earlier on Thursday, the Israeli cabinet approved the construction of 22 new settlements in the West Bank. The decision includes the establishment of four settlements in the eastern border area with Jordan, "as part of strengthening Israel's eastern border, its national security, and its strategic control over the region."
