PSSI Executive Committee (Exco) member Arya Sinulingga revealed the reasons why Elkan Baggott and Ragnar Oratmangoen were not called up to strengthen the Indonesian National Team for the matches against China and Japan.
Elkan Baggott has not strengthened the Indonesian National Team since playing against the Philippines in the Second Round of the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers for the Asian zone on November 21, 2023, which was still coached by Shin Tae-yong.
However, his name was not included in the list of players after the coach switched to Patrick Kluivert.
"We have asked about Elkan Baggott for a long time, (Elkan) said that he is focused on the club, so yes, we leave everything to Elkan as a player," said Arya in an official statement on Monday.
Elkan Baggott was previously reported to have been in Bali a few days ago. The Island of the Gods is the location of the Indonesian National Team's training camp (TC) starting May 25, 2025.
Baggott's loan period with Blackpool FC in the third tier of the English Premier League for the 2024/2025 season has also ended. He was returned to Ipswich Town as his owner club.
"We appreciate and respect Elkan who is indeed focused on the club, even though he may be on holiday. But he is still focused there, he said, so we give him the freedom to focus there," he added.
Meanwhile, Ragnar Oratmangoen is absent due to illness and is in the process of healing.
"Oratmangoen told us yesterday that he was sick, and there had to be a healing process because health is very important," explained Arya.
Arya said that PSSI will provide full support for Oratmangoen in his recovery.
So far it is not known what illness Ragnar is suffering from. The last time the player played for Dender was when they lost 1-2 at home to KV Mechelen in the Belgian League on March 16, 2025.
The Indonesian national team itself is scheduled to play the last two matches of the third round of World Cup Qualification in June.
Indonesia will first host China at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium in Jakarta on June 5 before visiting Japan five days later.
