The Traffic Directorate of Polda Metro Jaya has appealed to the public to avoid a number of roads at several locations due to the demonstration by online motorcycle taxi (ojol) drivers.
"Some of the places include the Horse Statue Roundabout the Ministry of Transportation and the DPR/MPR RI Building," said Deputy Director of Traffic (Wadirlantas) of Polda Metro Jaya, AKBP Argo Wiyono in his statement in Jakarta, Monday.
Argo said there would likely be an increase in traffic volume due to the activity of conveying aspirations during the action at the location.
"Therefore, we urge road users to avoid the roads around the location or look for alternative routes," he said.
Argo also explained that his party would try as much as possible not to engineer traffic flow in order to facilitate the continuity of community activities.
"Traffic engineering will only be implemented in contingency situations and conditions," he said.
He also told the protesters and road users to work together to ensure that community activities and protest activities to convey opinions can take place safely and smoothly while maintaining traffic order.
Around 500 thousand online motorcycle taxi (ojol) drivers will turn off the application and hold a massive demonstration simultaneously on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, as a form of protest against the application that is suspected of violating regulations.
The action will be followed by online motorcycle taxi and taxi drivers from various regions, including East Java, Central Java, Yogyakarta, Cirebon, to Palembang, Lampung and the Greater Banten region.
