Indonesian House of Representatives Speaker Puan Maharani asked the government not to obscure history in writing the latest version of history which will be completed in August 2025, coinciding with the 80th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia.
"What is important is that there is no obscuring or rewriting of history, and not correcting history," said Puan at the parliament complex, Jakarta, Tuesday.
According to him, Commission X of the Indonesian House of Representatives has held a public hearing to ask for input from the public, especially historians. On the other hand, according to him, the commission will ask for an explanation from the government regarding the writing of the latest version of history.
"So 'red jackets' should never forget history. Indeed, history certainly contains good things and bitter things," he said.
