US Senators urge Trump to end Gaza blockade and allow aid into the country.

This came in a statement issued by Senator Welch on Thursday, highlighting the "unprecedented" humanitarian crisis unfolding in Gaza.

In a speech on the Senate floor on Wednesday, Welch said, "Children in Gaza are dying of hunger, and we cannot accept or support the deliberate policy of starvation pursued by the government of Israel," according to the statement.

The draft resolution called on the Trump administration to use all available diplomatic tools to end the blockade on food and humanitarian aid essential to meet the needs of civilians in Gaza.

Welch added, "My colleagues and I are introducing a draft resolution that highlights the suffering of children in Gaza who are dying of hunger, while we are here discussing issues we consider important in comfortable circumstances. We must all do our utmost to end the blockade and the Israeli war on the Strip immediately."

The senator stressed that "the Israeli government's deliberate starvation policy cannot be accepted or supported."

The draft resolution expressed grave concern over the continuing humanitarian crisis in Gaza, including the threat of famine threatening the lives of tens of thousands of children, according to the same statement.

This move comes amid the ongoing genocidal campaign perpetrated by the Israeli occupation with full US support for the past 19 months, resulting in bloody massacres across the Gaza Strip.

Since March 2, Israel has continued to close the crossings, preventing any humanitarian aid from entering Gaza and plunging the territory into a state of famine, according to statements by the Government Information Office in Gaza.

Since October 7, 2023, Israel, with American support, has been committing genocide in Gaza, resulting in the deaths and injuries of approximately 173,000 Palestinians, most of them children and women, in addition to more than 11,000 missing.
