State Department spokeswoman Tammy Bruce said that President Donald Trump has taken a clear position on lifting sanctions on Syria, and that the time has come to do so.
She added in a press statement that a team has begun working on the issue, and that it will be resolved quickly.
She explained that lifting sanctions on a country takes a certain amount of time, even when the president directs it, noting that the State and Treasury Departments are working intensively on this matter.
Recently, Trump and the European Union announced the lifting of economic sanctions imposed on Syria under ousted President Bashar al-Assad.
