Zulhas proposes that the food "lartas" policy be at the Coordinating Ministry for Food.

Coordinating Minister for Food Zulkifli Hasan or Zulhas proposed that policies regarding prohibitions and restrictions on imports of food commodities be under the Coordinating Ministry for Food.

This was conveyed by Zulhas in response to the continuation of the renewal of the cassava commodity import ban. According to him, currently the policy is still under the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, in accordance with Government Regulation (PP) Number 29 of 2021 concerning the Implementation of the Trade Sector.

"We are just now going to take care of it, the Ministry of Trade's initiative proposal for lartas in the food sector to be transferred to us. But this has just been taken care of, now it is still with the Coordinating Minister for the Economy," said Zulhas in Jakarta, Friday.

PP 29/2021, among other things, regulates policies and controls on export-import activities of goods and services based on decisions of coordination meetings led by the minister who coordinates, synchronizes and controls ministerial affairs in the implementation of government in the economic sector.

However, Zulhas said that until now there are no regulations limiting the import of cassava.

"So cassava is indeed food, but it is traded freely, there are no regulations yet. Well, the Coordinating Minister for Food has not issued a ban on the import or export of cassava," he added.
