Aldila/Hozumi challenge hosts in Eastbourne Open quarter-finals






Indonesian tennis player Aldila Sutjiadi who is paired with Eri Hozumi (Japan) will face a challenge from the host pair Harriet Dart/Maia Lumsden in the quarter-finals of the 2025 WTA 250 Eastbourne Open tournament in Eastbourne, England, Wednesday local time.

Aldila/Hozumi, who are the second seeds, opened their journey in the 50th edition of the tournament with a dramatic victory over the duo Kamilla Rakhimova (Russia)/Anna Siskova (Czech Republic) with a score of 7-5, 3-6,(10-8).

"Initially we were ahead, but the opponent gave a fierce fight until the super tiebreak that made us nervous. Finally we were able to close the match with a super tight victory," said Aldila in his written statement, Tuesday (24/6).

Aldila also expressed her appreciation to her partner. “Thank you Eri, always bringing the fighting spirit and excitement. And thank you also for all the support. Let's continue."

Meanwhile, their opponents in the quarter-finals, Dart/Lumsden, advanced after eliminating the pair Angelica Moratelli (Italy)/Sabrina Santamaria (United States) in two straight sets, 6-3, 6-2.

The Eastbourne Open will be Aldila's 14th tournament throughout the 2025 season. So far, the 30-year-old's best achievements are winning the ITF WTT W100 event with Olivia Gadecki (Australia) and winning the WTA 125 Catalonia Open with Bianca Andreescu (Canada).

Meanwhile, Aldila and Hozumi's collaboration was rekindled in Eastbourne after previously reaching the semifinals of the WTA 250 Libema Open and the quarterfinals of the WTA 250 Nottingham Open. Now, they are aiming for the best results in this grass court tournament.
