Delegations from more than 80 countries participating in the global march are awaiting the arrival of the Steadfastness Convoy in Egypt to proceed to Gaza.

Members of the European Parliament and members of various European parliaments will participate in the march to Gaza, among approximately 4,000 solidarity activists.

Marchers began arriving in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, on Wednesday, and the final number of participants is expected to be reached on Thursday, awaiting the "Resilience Convoy to Break the Siege on Gaza," which will arrive by land from the Maghreb and reach the city of Arish (North Sinai), from where it will depart for the Rafah crossing on the border with the Gaza Strip.

Amid popular celebration, the "Steadfastness Convoy" entered Libyan territory on Wednesday, amid Israeli opposition to its approach to the Gaza Strip. Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz urged Egyptian authorities on Wednesday to prevent the "Steadfastness Convoy" from reaching the Gaza Strip, stressing that such a move "will not be permitted."

On Monday morning, the Maghreb "Resilience Convoy" set off from Tunis, heading to Gaza, in an attempt to break the Israeli blockade on the Strip and in solidarity with the Palestinian people. Hundreds of activists participated. On Tuesday morning, the vanguard of the land convoy began crossing from Tunisia into Libya at the Ras Jedir border crossing.

The convoy's media coordinator, Yassin Al-Qaidi, said on Monday that the Maghreb convoy, which includes citizens from Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Mauritania, and Libya, will arrive in Cairo the day after tomorrow, Thursday, and will arrive at the Gaza border in Rafah, Egypt, the following Monday.

These ground operations coincided with Israel's seizure of the international solidarity ship, the Madeleine, at dawn on Monday, after it breached international waters. The ship's 12 activists were abducted and detained at the port of Ashdod, pending their transfer to Israeli immigration authorities for deportation.

Since October 7, 2023, Israel, with US support, has been committing genocide in the Gaza Strip, leaving more than 181,000 Palestinians dead or wounded, most of them children and women, more than 11,000 missing, and hundreds of thousands displaced.
