Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives Sufmi Dasco Ahmad appealed to Indonesian citizens who are still stuck in the conflict zone between Iran and Israel to remain calm because the government continues to make gradual evacuation efforts to the country.
"We appeal to Indonesian citizens to remain calm, the government continues to communicate and update news about Indonesian citizens in Iran and will continue to carry out gradual evacuations," said Dasco at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Thursday.
He also emphasized that the leadership of the Indonesian House of Representatives and Commission I of the Indonesian House of Representatives will continue to communicate with the government to monitor the situation of Indonesian citizens who are still trapped in the Iran-Israel conflict area.
Dasco also asked the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemlu) and the Indonesian Embassy (KBRI) in Tehran, Iran, to continue to open hotline services that Indonesian citizens can contact in emergency situations.
"We are trying to establish a hotline so that the communications of our citizens in Iran can be properly monitored," he said.
Previously, Dasco said that Commission I of the Indonesian House of Representatives would soon meet President Prabowo Subianto to discuss the global dynamics related to the conflict between Iran and Israel.
According to him, communication between the DPR and the government is needed to find out the government's views and attitudes in responding to the situation in the Middle East. On the other hand, he said the DPR will also provide input to the government regarding this matter.
"And earlier we also spoke together with the leadership of Commission I. In the near future the leadership of Commission I will hold a dialogue with the President," said Dasco at the parliament complex,
