East Java and DKI win gold medals in the KU National Rock Climbing Championships in the speed category





 Male athlete from East Java Egan Fansa Patu Ozora and female athlete from DKI Jakarta Naura Jasmine Rayya Syafiq won gold medals in the National Championships for Rock Climbing in the Age Group (KU) category, speed youth B.

In the final round held at the Tangerang City Sport Climbing Center in Tangerang, Banten, Thursday, Egan won the men's speed youth B category by recording 6.90 seconds, beating NTB athlete Mustafa with a time of 8.06 seconds.

"The difficulty was probably because of the rain so the board was a bit slippery. Most of my times were off. And in the final and the semifinals, I was more focused and more motivated," said Egan after the medal ceremony.

The 14-year-old athlete dedicated the gold medal to her mother who always supports her. She also thanked the coaches and officials of the East Java team.

Egan admitted that he did not want to rush to achieve a certain time target. He preferred to "take it step by step." Even so, he did not hesitate to mention his main goal as an athlete.

"My target is the Olympics. Hopefully, I will try hard," said Egan.

"And, I hope that in the future it will be better, I will be more motivated."

Meanwhile, the bronze medal was won by DKI athlete Yafi Max Xena with a time of 7.09 seconds or 0.63 seconds faster than Bali athlete Putu Dery Pratama Putra.

In the women's sector, Naura won gold in the speed youth B category with a time of 8.76 while her competitor, Yogyakarta athlete Hanifah Nur, was unable to finish the race, aka fell in the final round.

The bronze medal was won by Central Java athlete Fanis Ahmalia Sabilla with a time of 9.26 seconds, beating DKI Jakarta athlete Keyzia Queenme Candley Riwoe with 10.38 seconds.

The KU Tangerang National Rock Climbing Championship was attended by 413 athletes from 27 provinces who are members of the Indonesian Rock Climbing Federation (FPTI). The event competed in 18 categories, and took place on June 19–23 at the Tangerang City Sport Climbing Center.
