Government instructs provision of 100 Mbps internet to remote areas

The government has asked cellular operators in Indonesia to commit to providing internet access of up to 100 Mbps in areas without fiber optic networks, not only in urban areas, but also in remote areas.

Minister of Communication and Digital Meutya Hafid said the step was part of accelerating the equalization of national digital connectivity following the direction of President Prabowo Subianto who in his inauguration speech stated that connectivity is an important foundation for the growth of the people's economy.

"As we all know, in his inauguration speech, the President repeatedly conveyed the importance of digitalization to improve the economic life of the community," said Meutya when meeting with the leaders of cellular operators at the Ministry of Communication and Digital Office.
