Indonesian national team coach Patrick Kluivert revealed the main strengths of the Japanese national team which achieved a landslide victory of 6-0 in the closing match of the third round of the 2026 World Cup Group C qualifiers at Suita Stadium, Osaka Prefecture.
"I think collectively and individually they have very skilled players. A lot of movement in the team. I think that's the main key for the Japanese team. They have a lot of movement, they know where to move at the right time. They have a fantastic pressing game. So I think collectively they know what to do," Kluivert said at a post-match press conference at Suita Stadium, as quoted from an audio recording received in Jakarta, Tuesday.
Japan did not field their best players such as Takumi Minamino, Kaoru Mitoma, Hidemasa Morita, and Ritsu Doan, but they still did not lose their quality in front of Indonesia.
After failing to win in their last two matches, Japan closed the third round of qualifying on a high note, playing beautifully in front of their home fans.
Japan's six goals were scored by two goals from Daichi Kamada (15', 45+5'), and one goal each from Takefusa Kubo (19'), Ryoya Morishita (55'), Shuto Machino (58'), and Mao Hosoya (80').
Not only did they win, Japan was also very dominant because Sofascore noted that they had 71 percent possession of the ball, releasing a total of 22 shots, 10 of which were big chances.
Japan's dominance left Indonesia unable to do anything during the 90 minutes of the match, after only controlling the ball for 29 percent and without taking a single shot.
